A French Short Story: La boulangerie du coin (Beginner A2)
Chaque matin, monsieur Dupont va à la boulangerie du coin.
Every morning, Mr Dupont goes to the bakery on the corner.
Il aime l'odeur du pain chaud qui sort du four.
He loves the smell of hot bread coming out of the oven.
La boulangère le voit entrer et prépare déjà sa commande.
The baker sees him come in and is already preparing his order.
— Une baguette bien cuite et deux pains au chocolat, comme d'habitude ?
'A well-baked baguette and two chocolate pastries, as usual?'
— Oui, s'il vous plaît. Et ajoutez une tarte aux pommes pour ce soir.
'Yes, please. And add an apple tart for tonight.'
Il paie, prend son sac et rentre chez lui pour prendre le petit-déjeuner.
He pays, takes his bag, and goes home to have breakfast.
